In order to fly as Pilot in Command (PIC) at night, with or without passengers, you must have a Night Rating. For this purpose “night” means the time between sunset and sunrise, sunset and sunrise being determined at surface level.

We are glad to offer you an approved EASA Night rating. The rating is added on any valid JAA/EASA licence.


In order to start the course, as per FCL 810, the applicant must hold a JAA/EASA PPL (A) or an EASA LAPL (A).  

The Course

As per Part-FCL 810, the course shall comprise:

  • 3 Hours of Theoretical knowledge instruction.
  • At least 5 hours of flight training in the appropriate aircraft category at night, including at least 3 hours of Dual Instruction, 1 hour of Cross-Country Navigation of at least 27 Nautical Miles (50 Kilometers), 5 Solo Take-offs and Full Stop Landings.

The Night Rating course is usually completed on the C152 but any other aircraft of the fleet may be used upon applicant’s request.

Credits from previous experience

In accordance with article 8 of EU Regulation 1178/2011, a pilot who holds a license issued by an ICAO contracting state that includes Night privileges may receive credit towards the flight and/or theoretical knolwledge training for the Part-FCL Night Rating. Any credit given will be determined by the Authority on the basis of a recommendation from the Head of Training.

Course Duration - Cost

Course Duration: 3 Days on a full time basis but can be stretched over a longer period of time.
